The EU history is so complicated especially ww2,like Germany-Poland,Germany-Russia,but now national factor looks like it has been completely cleared up,no matter in folk or in governments.EU acts like a country.
But east Asia looks like not so good, though between governments the ww2 history influence has been cleared up,but in folk,South Korea-Japan,North Korea-Japan,China-Japan,the ww2 history influence still exist.

This is because of the very nature of the EU. It was founded after the was as an economic union between france and (west) germany for coal and steel. Other countries soon joined. After WW II there was consent to never let it happen again and economic relationsships combined with the true will of the politicians and people laid the cornerstone.
Another important factor is that schoolbooks were written together and that it is normal in europe to have joint history expert groups to find a common view on history.
The iron fence – although it divided europe – prooved a strong factor for unification. Both during the cold war and after, because suddenly people saw it what it ment to be seperated and have no way to contact relatives of keep up historic relationships.
Of course it is important that Germany completly broke with any Nazi ideology after WW II and cleared up the rumble.
Japan did not do this. Schoolkids learn there that the war was great.
