I am wondering if anyone knows if China Southern Airlines gives out a 10 kg additional baggage allowance for students?

yeah, that is all i can find too. do you know the customer service number or email in Beijing or anywhere in China that can speak English (as my Mandarin is not that fluent)?

This is all I can find.
“Chinese passport holders travelling on student visas between Australia and China will be entitled to 40 kilograms when travelling in Economy Class, recognising that they may be travelling to Australia for an extended period of study, or returning during a break or at the end of their course.”
It may be wise to phone yourself the airline and ask them directly if they say yes, ask them to confirm in writing. This could had been updated or changed since then.

there was no addtional 10kg, you can only take 20kg for consignment and 5-10kg luggage with u self.
